Support evlovesnyc-to HOst migrants arriving from the soUthern border
On Aug 27th we’ll be welcoming over 600 migrants to New York City with a ton of love.
Since Summer 2022,100,000+ migrants have arrived in New York in some of the most challenging of circumstances. Many of them, after making harrowing journeys through dangerous terrain and seeking asylum, were placed on buses from the Southern borders and driven to NYC for up to 60 hours, often without food. There are a whole host of political reasons why so many migrants arrived in NYC. Our focus is the humanitarian aspect of their journey. (Check out the video below from our previous event .)
AS A SANCTUARY CITY, THE MOMENT THE MIGRANTS STEPPED FOOT IN NEW YORK THEY BECAME NEW YORKERS, AND THEREFORE OUR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY.
Last year at EVLovesNYC we partnered with Artists.Athletes.Activists. and began providing hot meals on their arrival. And now that over 100,000+ women, men and children are New Yorkers—many living in shelters or on the streets—we want to make sure the know they are part of us now, and give them a moment of respite.

ON Aug 27th WE'RE GOING TO SUPPORT OVER 600 MIGRANTS IN OUR "WELCOME TO NYC" EVENT.
We’ll be providing food, clothing, coats and toys, and a moment to have some relief from the grind of daily life that many of the migrants have experienced since they landed in the city.
We’ll have a DJ, some music and hopefully some dancing. A moment to reflect on what’s possible for their futures in NYC. A chance to say, “Yes, it’s been harrowing so far, but there is hope for what’s to come.”
Who We Are and Why We're Doing This
We started our organization in the first few weeks of the pandemic when we learned that—due to restaurant closures and the chaos of Covid—there was a distinct shortage of cooked food in the city. We’re a bunch of friends with big hearts, we’re all volunteers, and we have a mission to end food insecurity in our city.
Since then, we’ve formed our organization into a full 501(c)(3) non-profit. We have 15+ volunteer chefs on our team who cook nutritious and healthy meals from a cross-section of cultures. We’re also efficient and effective, and so far we’ve cooked a staggering 385,000+ meals for our fellow New Yorkers. Our kitchen is a place of love where everyone is welcome, and we spread that love across the city with the food that we make.
How You Can Help
In order to spread the love to so many individuals we need your help. We urgently need three things:
VOLUNTEERS who speak decent Spanish. We need people who can converse, and make people feel AT HOME.
CLEAN COATS + CLOTHES. We need tons of coats and clothes. We need around 600 CLEAN coats (remember there is nowhere for them to wash these items). We also need CLEAN women’s, men’s and children’s clothes that are practical. Daily wear for all sizes and ages. (Click on the link below for details.)
CASH DONATIONS. So far, we have spent over $50,000 of our budget on welcoming meals for the migrants and this has not been reimbursed by the city. We are hoping you can support us to raise money for this event so it doesn’t come out of our small pockets.
We have minimal overheads and all our team are volunteers, so everything you spend will go directly into supporting the migrants. And because we are so efficient, for every $10 you donate, we can make 4 meals! We’ll also update you after the event, so you can see the impact your donation has made. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
